Fashion Radar: PrivyDoll's Top 2010 Trends

PrivyDoll has had a very fashionable year! We grew PrivyDoll to new heights and also launched PrivyGUY. It was a big year for us and it was a big year in fashion. Here is a little walk down the memory of what we wore in 2010.
Fifies inspired suiting for men and women was a big trend we saw early in 2010 with the madmen influence still going strong.

Summer was a time of peasant -influenced items along with a strong 80's influence as well. Overall 2010 was a modernized 1982. Wedges came back for summer. Paired with
The accented shoulder was a huge trend in 2010. You found shoulder pads in sleeveless, jackets, and dresses. This silhouette was one of the biggest must haves of the year.
Faux fur became a huge trend in fall and winter in 2010. Boots with the fur and vests were seen everywhere!
Lace made a big comback this year and was worn in dresses, tanks and cardigans. With lace, comes leather and leather jackets were HUGE this year. Feminine versions, ruffles and cropped motorcycle jackets were the ones to have. I couldn't talk about 2010 fashion without mentioning the legging and jegging.

What 2010 trends will stick for next year? Time will only tell, but I look forward to the trends of 2011!

Fashion Radar: New Year, New Jeans That Make You Slim

Pick up Shape Magazine's January issue out on stands today! They unveil the top jeans for each body type. Whether you are curvy or athletic the best jean secret is out! I adore the great finds in this month's issue and PrivyDoll got a sneak peak behind the finds. Here are a few of the secrets leaked out to finding the best jeans for your body type. So hit the holiday appetizers, meal and desserts because the trick to look slim is to find a pair of jeans that make you look slimmer. That is my personal advice! Here are a few hints for each body type by Shape Magazine.

Athletic- Many women with athletic figures tend to have muscular calves and thighs, making them self conscious of this area.

Tip: A denim with a slim-to-the-knee fit and deep indigo wash have a streamlining effect on the thighs, while a wide leg opening and longer hemline create the illusion of narrow calves. A medium-rise and curved waistband will give you a sleek and slimming look from torso to toe.

Curvy- Curvy women tend to have difficulty finding jeans that are a perfect mold to their body—either they fit in the waist but not the butt, or vice versa.

Tip: An all-over dark wash shaves inches off of the lower body and a higher rise offsets fuller hips. A jean with rear pockets that are placed close together and angled inward slightly will make the booty appear smaller too.

Petite- Finding a good pair of jeans when you are 5’2” and have an hourglass shape is difficult for many petite women.

Tip: A midrise jean rests at the perfect spot on the waistline for petites, just between the natural waist and hip bone. Vertical fading down the center of the thighs visually elongates the frame, giving you a sleeker silhouette. Large back pockets can also make a curvy butt look smaller by comparison.

Entertainment: Gift Guide: Part 3

PrivyDoll has been reporting some great gift ideas for the hard PrivyDoll to buy for. This edition includes choices that include picks for the music lover and for the girl on the go that may travel to a change of climate or adores layers and the hostess with the mostess. Here are some gift hints for our third installment of the First Annual PrivyDoll Gift Guide!

For the Music Lover: The Ipod or Iphone is an extension to our hands and having the couture accessories are a must. I found these fabulous Marc by Marc Jacobs ear phones to compliment any outfit. Found at Bloomingdales for $68 these are a great gift (or for yourself!)

For the Hostess: You have that friend that is always hosting the parties, having dinner parties and cocktail gatherings. What a great accessory for her next party: a chalk board inspired runner for the table. I think this just a great idea for guests to write comments and leave fun thank you on the table for the host. I found this great find for $22 on ETSY.

For the Finicky Dresser: Here is a great gift for a friend that may like to layer or that travels to different climates. These detachable sleeves is a cute idea for the finicky weathered dresser. For $25 CH*Armz offers many patterns and colors. The sleeve slides up your arm and attaches to your bra strap for a great fit and a great layering piece or a fashion statement of color.
